[Linux Noob] [Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition] Trying to get multiplayer to work on CachyOS, not sure how to proceed
Hi,
I very recently made the switch from Windows 11 to CachyOS and I'm trying to get my games running, but I encountered an issue with making multiplayer work Age Of Empires 2 Definitive Edition. Singleplayer runs fine.
I followed this guide: https://aoe2.arkanosis.net/linux/
But I get stuck at what comes after running:
cabextract a10
I thought at first I'd have to follow "If you're using Steam from your distribution's package manager (apt, pacman…) or SteamOS (eg. on the Steam Deck), run these commands:
chmod u+w ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/813780/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32/ucrtbase.dll
yes | cp ucrtbase.dll ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/813780/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32
Since I'm using the Steam bin CachyOS provides natively, but when I do so I get it with:
chmod: cannot access '/home/myusername/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/813780/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32/ucrtbase.dll': No such file or directory
I'm kind of afraid to try anything else at this point since I'm so new to Linux or even using the Terminal, and I don't expect Arch/CachyOS to use Flatpak or Snap (or at least, not as a default).
Could anyone point towards what could be the issue ? Thanks in advance!
