Blue badge application help (Nottingham city, England)
I've been diagnosed with cardioinhibitory vasovagal syncope, which basically means that a few times a year my heart stops beating briefly and I suddenly faint. I can't drive, but my partner does, and I thought having a blue badge might make me a lot safer. Note: I don't receive any benefits, I work full time.
Last year I was taken to hospital in an ambulance when I fainted while walking across a supermarket car park. I submitted as evidence a letter from the hospital about this incident plus a letter from a consultant cardiologist to my GP explaining the results of all the tests I went through this year to receive my diagnosis. The consultant states in this letter that I must lay down immediately if I start to feel a faint coming on to avoid suffering serious injury.
I thought this would enough for having a blue badge since I assume the council would agree that lying down in the middle of a car park puts me at risk of harm, but twice now they've asked for additional evidence and I don't know what else to give:
"It does not demonstrate that you experience very considerable psychological distress whilst walking and/or are at risk of serious harm when walking; or pose, when walking, a risk of serious harm to any other person. Please provide recent Professional/Specialist medical evidence that you are either at risk of causing serious harm to yourself or others when walking."
Does anyone have any advice about what else I can do? Thank you.
