Idk my family is kinda odd

So I was talking about how did a guy not get punished for telling another person in politics that the reason why they're not going to win for Congress is because they're trans female and I said to my family how do they not get punished for it and they said well freedom of speech and then I said so I can call a police officer a dumbass prick where is the line and they said that's the line when you say that to an officer then telling a person that who they are is the reason why they're not going to win something is somehow better than what I said just like kind of odd.
