UK visa delay

I wanted to share my timeline because this subreddit helped me a lot while I was waiting. I spent weeks searching for cases similar to mine, so hopefully this helps someone else.

**Visa type:** Skilled Worker - Health and Care Visa (NHS Foundation Year 1 Doctor)
**Application country:** Poland though I am Iranian
**Service:** Standard (non-priority)
**Timeline:**
**3 July:** Submitted visa application.
**4 July:** Biometrics completed.
**6 July:** Received the standard UKVI email saying *“We are unable to make a decision on your application within published visa processing times.”*
**Throughout July:** No requests for additional documents, no interview, and no further updates from UKVI.
During this time I submitted paid enquiries, contacted the UKVI NHS team, kept my employer updated, and asked them to consider a later start if necessary. Nothing seemed to work.
**4 August:** at 9:00 am I got a second visa delay email. Same as the first time. Later in the day (5:00 pm ish) I got the decision email.

Hopefully this will help someone deal with their anxiety while waiting. The good news is that they are processing the visas for Iranians despite the war. But it appears that almost everyone gets delayed.

I did everything humanly possible (even contacting MP) to expedite the decision but there was little effect.
