ByteDance's Seedance now have animated explainer videos in their study app Gauth. Anyone here actually using it?

Question

So I stumbled across this piece on Business Insider about how ByteDance is pushing their Seedance AI animation model into Gauth (their study/learning app) to generate short educational animations on demand. Apparently students can type a concept and get a little animated walkthrough instead of static diagrams or walls of text.

A few things that stood out to me:

  • It's the same model family behind some of those viral text-to-video clips, but tuned for "boring" educational content — step-by-step physics, bio pathways, math problems.
  • It's positioned inside a study tool, not a standalone video gen app, so the workflow is closer to "ask a tutor" than "make a TikTok."
  • This feels like the first real consumer-scale test of generative AI video in learning specifically. Most of what we've seen has been creative/playful.

Here's the article if anyone wants the full read: https://www.businessinsider.com/seedance-bytedance-education-push-study-app-gauth-ai-animations-2026-7

Curious if anyone in here has actually tried Gauth's new animated mode yet. Is it actually useful for studying? And do you think this is where AI tutoring is heading in general — animated visuals on demand instead of text explanations?

Would love to hear how it compares to stuff like Khan Academy's Khanmigo or the visual tools in ChatGPT/Claude.
