How hard is replacing the electronics in a newer Martin?

Hello, I'm currently looking to replace my Taylor after cracking the top open before a gig, and I'm deciding between the Martin 000-10e, and the Eastman E1OM.

I would replace the electronics in the Martin with the L.R Baggs Lyric from my Taylor, uses a pre-amp connected to a strap jack. Looking at photos on-line, almost the entire range of Martins have some ugly piece of plastic on the bottom for their onboard systems, which look like it might make installing the lyric impossible. I'm not sure if the hole for the stock output jack could accommodate the Lyric pre-amp, and it certainly seems impossible to widen the hole for the strap button.

If anyone has any experience with replacing the electronics on one of these in a similar way, I'd appreciate knowing how easy it is. If it's a pain, I'll just get the similar Eastman which doesn't have any electronics and pay a man to drill a hole.
