Concerns over energy levels/weight.
Hello everyone,
First of all, I appreciate any kindness and grace you can offer me. I'm going through a tremendously difficult time right now and love nice people.
Second of all, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but I was recommended to reach out here. Feel free to correct/redirect me if needs be.
Over the past year my physical and mental health has gone rapidly downhill. I have gained over 50 pounds, previously severe mental health conditions that had become a bit more docile have flared up severely again, and I am now dealing with persistent, severe fatigue.
I had many, many, many intense and extreme life events occur within the past year that I do not think are super relevant to disclose at this moment, but trust and believe when I say that my stress levels have admittedly been genuinely concerningly high over recent months haha.
Currently I am most concerned about my weight and energy levels. I'm 22F and feel a consistent need to take a nap midday. I can almost always push through it, but it makes my office job absolutely brutal. I never wake up feeling refreshed like I used to, and I often wake up with headaches.
For my weight, I've always been on the slightly heftier side, but nothing like this. I ballooned from the stress and lethargy the past year has caused me and it kills me every day. My body is in pain, my joints are stiff, my clothes don't fit.
I have been in a calorie restriction for the past 2 months and have seen little to no results. I don't work out much beyond walks here and there because, as aforementioned, I have literally no energy. I try not to hop myself up on caffeine too much, but I have very little other choice atp. I've settled on around 70-110mg of caffeine per day.
I always feel so painfully restless but also so, so, so tired at the same time. People around me think it's just stress, but things have been getting better and more consistent lately so I have a hard time believing that's the only issue. Plus, I'm a semi-recent college grad -- I know how my body responds to chronic stress, and this doesn't feel like that. Hell, I studied abroad in a high intensity, very physically active program for four months less than a year ago and while I was tired often, it wasn't anything like this.
I'm just so confused and lost. I feel helpless. I'm planning on seeing my doctor next week, but in the meanwhile -- does anyone have any advice or ideas as to what I might be experiencing? What causes a regularly healthy, young person to become so lethargic against their will? Or maybe any advice for dealing with it until I can go in? I'm just so tired of it! (Pun definitely intended.)
Some more quick info --
- I take Vit D supplements
- I'm on Zoloft but have been for 2 1/2 years
- I don't snore or have sleep troubles as far as I'm aware of, I ask my partner with some routine and they never notice anything
- My tiredness is not just like "whew I'm worn out," it is a pervasive heaviness, fogginess and sleepiness that significantly affects my life and prohibits me from doing things I want to do
- I haven't had bloodwork done recently but I plan to at my appt next week
TIA.
