How long did it take for your trade-in payoff to show up at Hyundai Finance?
Hi everyone,
I traded in my 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line for a new 2026 Sonata N Line at a Hyundai dealership last Friday evening.
The dealership agreed to pay off my remaining Hyundai Motor Finance loan.
Today is Wednesday, and when I log into my Hyundai Finance account I still see my old loan with a balance not paid off.
I called Hyundai Motor Finance today, and they told me they only receive dealer payoffs by check, and they don’t see that my payoff has been received yet.
The dealership’s finance manager told me the payoff is “in process,” but couldn’t provide any additional details.
For those who have traded in a Hyundai with an existing Hyundai Finance loan:
How long did it take before your old loan disappeared?
Did your dealer mail the payoff immediately, or did it take several business days?
Were you able to get a check number or tracking information from the dealership?
Is it normal for the balance to still show after 4–5 days?
I’m mainly trying to understand what other people’s experiences were and whether this timeline is typical.
Thanks everyone!
