Restaurant managers: Quick question on table turnover, split bills, and peak-hour friction
Hey everyone,
I’m working on a project aimed at making table ordering and bill-splitting a lot smoother during busy shifts.
We all know the drill during peak hours: guests waiting to order "just one more drink", or the awkward 5-minute process of splitting a table's check 6 ways on a terminal while other tables are waiting.
We’re building a simple QR/NFC tool where guests can order extra drinks/desserts themselves, split the bill automatically by specific items or percentage, and pay right from their phone, without taking anything from the costs ourselves.
Before we launch our first pilot tests, I’d love to get a reality check from people actually running the floor:
- Is manual bill splitting and extra order taking actually a major pain point for your team, or is it manageable?
- What’s your main hesitation with table-ordering tools? (Loss of personal service, annoying software, POS issues?)
Would love to hear your honest thoughts in the comments or a DM 🎉
