I started the MBIOTA elemental diet yesterday for methane SIBO/IMO.

I honestly expected to feel at least a little better from the beginning because food has been my biggest trigger for bloating over the last few months. Whenever I didn’t eat, my bloating was usually minimal or even completely gone. Since the elemental diet is supposed to give the digestive system a break, I really thought I’d finally get some relief. Instead, I’ve had the opposite experience. I’m more bloated than ever, constantly hungry which is also very unusual for me, exhausted, and my mood has really dropped.

The bloating has honestly been the hardest part so far. I wasn’t expecting to look or feel this bloated on an elemental diet, so it’s been quite discouraging.

I’m not planning to quit—I know it’s only day 2 and I’m committed to giving it a fair chance. But I have to admit these first two days have taken away a bit of my hope.

For those who completed the MBIOTA elemental diet:

Did your bloating get worse before it got better? Did it gradually improve during the diet, or only after you finished it? Did anyone experience bloating this severe?

Were you very hungry or did you actually feel less hungry? Did that change over the course of the diet?

When did you first start noticing improvements?

Did you lose weight during the diet, even if you consumed the recommended number of shakes?
