Advance parole

Answers to General Questions.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience traveling with Advance Parole. This was my third time using it.
This time I came through Washington, D.C. (IAD), and I got sent to secondary inspection for almost four hours.
The officers asked me a lot of questions about my immigration case. They searched my bags, checked my phone, and went through everything. But I want to be clear—they were never disrespectful. They were actually very direct and explained exactly what they were doing.
The officer told me it was a normal procedure because I have an open case with USCIS. He said it doesn’t mean I did anything wrong or that there’s a problem with my case. He also mentioned that procedures can vary depending on the airport.
I answered every question honestly, stayed calm, and didn’t have anything to hide. After they finished, they came back and told me everything was fine and that I was good to go.
I also asked if I should keep using my Advance Parole, and the officer told me yes. He said it was issued for me to use, so I shouldn’t be afraid to travel with it.
Before this trip, I had already used my Advance Parole twice through Orlando and never had any issues. This was my first time coming through Washington, D.C., so the experience was a little different.
The only part I didn’t like was waiting almost four hours before they called me. Other than that, everything went smoothly.
I just wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of people get nervous about traveling with Advance Parole.
