Struggling as new PM
hey there! I transitioned from a different role in the company to a senior APM position bc of my product and industry knowledge. the first 4 months I was doing both jobs and now I’ve been doing PM just for 3. the workload is insane, and I was told as an APM, I would basically be learning the ropes and delegated to mostly, but I’ve taken on managing this whole part of the product. I have 10 devs, and I cannot keep up with the management, writing, reviews, planning plus extra projects that get thrown at me. then in leadership meetings, I get essentially lambasted when estimates go up etc (even though I’m literally working as much and as fast as I can and so are our devs and qa).
I loved my old position, and the work life balance was much better, but at this time I’m planning to just stick this out for a while and then jump ship because working 10-12 hour days is not what I signed up for. I have a young family and I’m exhausted and burning out. the money is better than my old position which helps but it’s not enough for the amount that I am now working.
partly looking for advice, but also just venting.
