Thinking about applying to university for 2027 entry? πŸ‘€

One thing that catches a lot of students out is admissions tests.

Not every course needs one, but if you're applying for competitive degrees, it's worth checking now rather than finding out after the registration deadline.

Some of the most common admissions tests are:

🩺 Medicine & Dentistry β†’ UCAT
βš–οΈ Law β†’ LNAT
πŸ“Š Maths, Economics & Computer Science (at some universities) β†’ TMUA
πŸ”¬ Engineering & Natural Sciences β†’ ESAT
🧠 Some Oxford and UCL courses also require TARA or other subject-specific admissions tests.

πŸ“… Key dates to keep in mind:

β€’ UCAT: Testing runs 7 July – 26 September (booking deadline 19 September)
β€’ LNAT: Registration opens 1 August, with testing from 1 September. Oxbridge applicants must sit it before 15 October.
β€’ ESAT: Tests take place 9–10 October (registration deadline 29 September)
β€’ TMUA: Tests take place 13–14 October (booking deadline 29 September)
β€’ TARA: October sitting 15–16 October, with a second sitting 12–13 January for eligible applicants.

The biggest mistake people make isn't the test itself, t's missing the booking deadline. These dates often come around well before your UCAS deadline, so it's worth checking now if you're planning to apply.
