Pulled up Search Query Performance for both my listings and realized they’re ranking for the exact same top 5 search terms
I sell a kitchen organizer in a 2-pack and 4-pack version, two different ASINs, which are not related. I never bothered to compare search term data for those products until last week.
I pulled up Search Query Performance report for both ASINs for the same 30-day period. Out of the top 5 search terms generating impressions for the 2-pack version, 4 of those were also in the top 5 for the 4-pack, with almost identical terms, general terms such as the product name + organizer.
What surprised me was the click share metric. My 2-pack version had approximately 6% click share for the common term and the 4-pack version had 4%, meaning that together I was getting about 10% click share on that particular keyword. However, going back eight months in time, when I had only one listing – the 2-pack version, I was getting 8-9% click share on that term alone.
So it seems like the 4-pack didn’t generate any extra search real estate, it just divided my previous click share, with maybe 1-2 additional percent of it. The total combined revenue also proves that, it increased by about 5% since the 4-pack was launched, which doesn’t reflect the amount of money that I’ve invested in ranking and promoting that listing.
