Would this Trip.com unpaid booking be sufficient for a French Schengen visa application?

Hi everyone,

I'm applying for a French Schengen visa from Australia.

The France-Visas checklist asks for:

I don't want to purchase my flights until my visa is approved.

I created a booking on Trip.com, and it generated a booking confirmation with:

• my name and passport details,
• booking number,
• complete flight itinerary
• flight numbers and dates.

However, the booking status says "Awaiting payment", and it will expire if I don't pay within a few hours. 

My questions are:

1. Has anyone successfully used a Trip.com unpaid booking confirmation like this for a French Schengen visa?
2. Did the visa centre/consulate accept it?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied through France-Visas or the French Consulate.
