How long is the talking stage

How long is the talking stage? I haven’t straight out told this dude that I’m into him and I want to date, but I’ve definitely bounced around the idea and made it clear.

And he’s the type that needs a relationship to actually like have any sexual activity. We were slowly talking at first around March into April now it’s August and we’ve definitely advanced a little bit but not to a full grown relationship. I plan to be straight up with them next weekend when I see him next if he needs more time or says something like she’s not ready is it really worse investing more into it?
