How Aivrae offers GPT-5.6 Sol at 92.4% below official pricing

Discussion

A few people asked the obvious question after seeing Aivrae's prices: how can they be so far below the standard API rates?

I'm building Aivrae, a pay-as-you-go, multi-provider AI API. The short answer is that we don't source every request from the standard public API tier.

Some upstream routes are backed by paid subscriptions from model providers such as OpenAI and exposed as APIs through the open-source Sub2API project: https://github.com/Wei-Shaw/sub2api

Other routes come from enterprise-priced channels, including Azure volume agreements. Combining these route types gives us a lower cost base, and Aivrae puts the eligible routes behind one OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Price mode starts with a lower-cost route, while Auto also considers recent speed and success rate.

GPT-5.6 Sol starts at $0.38/M input, 92.4% below official pricing. Gemini 3.6 Flash starts at $0.14/M input, 90.4% below official pricing. GPT-5 starts at $0.07/M input and reaches Aivrae's top discount tier at 94.3% below official pricing. These are route-dependent starting prices rather than a promise that every request will always use the cheapest route.

You can inspect the available models and prices here: https://aivrae.com/pricing

If you already use several AI providers, what would you want to see before trusting a gateway like this?
