[TW: Gaslighting, AI] Struggling to tell whats real
(Just a heads up for the mods, whilst I understand that AI generated content is usually considered low effort this post is a hundred percent human generated and is mostly attempting to use the concept of AI as a kinky idea. Though I'd totally understand if thats against the spirit of the rules)
I don't know if it's just me, but recently I've been really struggling to tell whats real and whats AI generated, especially online! I'll be scrolling social media and see a funny kitten video, go to reblog it only to see in the comments people saying its AI, and I'd never have realised without people saying! It's even worse with news, with deepfakes and AI generated images I find it almost impossible to distinguish between fake and real news! I'll mention something I saw online to a friend only for them to tell me it was all made up, how was I supposed to know that?
Of course, people make up stuff about all sorts of people, but it mainly seems to be women, atleast in my experience. I can't tell you how many time I've seen a deep faked video of a female celebrity saying something dumb only to find out later it was fake, or I've seen nudes of people posted online only to find out later they were AI generated. It's seriously impacting my status as a feminist, it's hard to respect women even as a women myself when all I see online is women degrading themselves for no reason, even if it is AI generated!
Not to even mention the way AI can be used to trick people, a couple of weeks ago a male colleague sent me an article about how mini-skirts were the new way to show off your feminism. I went into the office the next day wearing one and everyone just laughed, turned out the entire article was AI generated as a prank!
So I was hoping someone here would be able to teach me any techniques or clues for spotting AI generated content, thanks in advance!
