My first game is
Good morning, everyone! How are you doing?
I'm super happy and wanted to share a bit about my game with you.
De|Composed is a management game, in the style of TEW, FM, and others in that genre, where you take over an unknown cemetery with the goal of bringing it to "Legendary" status. Along the way, you'll have to make decisions through random events. These events have memory. Meaning if you do something that gives you a negative reputation in week 1, something might happen in week 5 as a direct result of that choice. The same thing for events that envolves families, positive resuts happens too, I've nicknamed this mechanic "The cemetery never forgets."
On top of that, you can hire staff, add upgrades, and expand the cemetery so it turns out just the way you want. The game is 99% ready for Alpha 0.1, it just needs some final polish before playtesting begins. Like the official color palet of the boxes, fonts, and the main page image.
I came here to share a bit of my experience with you all. This is my very first project as a "game dev". I usually work on it during my free time throughout the week, and it took a few months to get it with the vision I had in mind.
I struggled A LOT, especially with the UI. Dealing with margins, boxes, and spacing really isn't my strong suit, I'll admit hahahaha. The code, which I thought would be super complex, actually ended up being easier once I took some solid courses on Udemy, found great tutorials on YouTube, and even finished Harvard's CS50 course.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. Currently, the game is only in Portuguese, but before releasing it, I'll try to figure out how to localize it into other languages ahead of the official launch.
The game has a lot of things that I want to implement after the Alpha 0.1, so... if the playtests endup going well, the full project will be my focus for the next few months.
What do you think? Would you play a cemetery management game?
