This is the arc where the story stops being "reincarnated combat engineer relearns how to walk" and starts cashing in the setup. Calder quits observing and starts building, the swamp gets a lot less survivable, and the System finally hands over some milestones he had to earn!! No free power-ups, everything comes out of experimentation and a fair amount of failure. The stakes reach his family now too, which is where it gets uncomfortable.
