Gendered event pricing is so tired
Take this as a vent looking for commiseration rather than a post seeking advice.
I've been looking to attend more kink events in my (relatively big city) area. Searching through event listings on Fet has yielded some interesting ones, but also left me frustrated. There's a baffling number of non swinger venues using gendered pricing for their events - like $20 for single women, $80 for single men, and $70 for couples. Meanwhile, the venues all claim they're trans friendly and LGBTQ safe spaces. That doesn't track with that pricing model.
I'm non binary, agender, and quite androgynous. I don't identify with my birth sex, though I do sometimes lean into that presentation. What would I pay? No matter what, I'm being misgendered. Similarly, I expect an AMAB enby who presents masculine to be misgendered gendered. What about a female/female couple? Do you expect them to pay $70 when they could claim they're both single and get a $30 discount?
It's just so bizarre that venues still think this kind of pricing makes sense when our community is more than cishet people. You can't be LGBTQ friendly while also using pricing that invalidates the existence of non binary people.
