Sing Geetham - An appreciation post
We (spouse and I) watched sing geetham in theatres, we didnt take kids along as we were not sure if they would be able to watch this unique format. Even few adults were complaining on SM so we decided we will try it first. We loved the movie and entire messaging behind the movie which is poignant. But it did have its drawback like heroine’s annoying accent, it just pulled you out of the experience. But it was ok since singing started 20mins into movie. Phew!!!
After movie released on netflix, extended family along with 7 kids (ranging from 10 years to 3 years)had a screening party. We were mentally prepared that kids will start creating havoc. Surprisingly, kids were immersed in the experience. Esp. During climax we have to remind them that it is just a story not real. They cheered at the climax and loved the end cameo that started a dance party.
Impact of the movie was def deep. Even after 2 weeks, kids are playing Sing Geetham where they use only songs instead of words. They again rewatched it this weekend. I caught my kid yesterday scolding someone who was hitting a plant with bat, he said ‘it feels pain, dont do that’. It would be a cherished memory for them for sure.
