Angels on bare skin: my eyes hurt

Ok so, I bought angels on bare skin a couple weeks ago. I love the way it makes my skin feel but am I using it wrong?

I take a little piece maybe pea sized, drip some water from my hands and mush it up into a wet paste then swish my hands together than rub over my face.. so the problem im having is, little pieces keep getting into my eyes and it feels like sand is in there and takes like 10 rinses to get it out.

How can I stop this from happening? Am I supposed to wipe it off instead of rinsing with water???
