Why is Arabic not widespread here?
It seems like there's no grand social bubble that everyone is a part of, but rather every ethnicity/nationality is in its own bubble.
I live in the UAE and it confuses me why everyone is split between Arabic, English, and Urdu. It makes communication difficult between people. If you go to many other places in the world, you will have to atleast become fluent in the local language eventually.
Now obviously I don't think people should abandon their home culture, but common folk struggling to understand each other is a issue imo. It also creates a hierarchy of Arabic speaking folk being dominant over others, in my experience atleast.
