Life insurance amount for high income earner with stay at home wife

Hi,

We are a family of 3 soon to be 4 in the northeast. I am 31 and make around 500k before any bonus.

Have a 900k policy through work (300k until i fill out the paperwork for the extra 6) , but was thinking about taking an additional 2 or 3 million. Any recs or advice on total amount. Earnings will increase yearly but would consider leaving to have more work life balance for probably 350-400k so the 900k will be gone.

Wife was an elementary school teacher so if anything happened to me her salary wouldn’t be nearly enough to replace it.

Was thinking 3 million 30 year policy but the cost is not insignificant.
