I feel like I'm going insane and I need a sanity check here.
You get 20 speed gro as a prize for completing a bundle, so I start with 20. That means the amount of blueberries I purchase = the amount of speed gro I'll need to buy at pierre's plus 20.
A = B + 20
However...if I just don't get speed gro...then the math is simple — I just take my total cash and divide it by how many blueberry seeds I can buy.
For example — right now, without selling my strawberries for profit, I'm going into Summer 1 Year 1 with $10,060g. We're going to assume I get unlucky and every blueberry harvest is exactly 3 blueberries per crop.
If I go the speed gro route (ensuring 5 harvests instead of 4) that means I can:
Buy 67 units of seeds, 47 units of speed gro for total speed gro owned of 67 (47 purchased + 20 already owned). Total spent: $10,060 Money remaining: $0. Profits: 5 harvests of 67 crops at (50 gold * three blueberries) = 5 * 67 * 50 * 3 = $50,250g total profit over the summer from the blueberries.
BUT, if I don't get ANY speed gro and accept fate at 4 harvests, the math becomes:
Buy 10060 ÷ 80 = 125.75 = 125 blueberry crops. Profits: 4 harvests of 125 crops at (50 gold * three blueberries) = 4 * 125 * 50 * 3 = $75,000g total profit over the summer from the blueberries.
Am I missing something/going insane? Is it literally more profitable to accept the 4 harvest blueberry spread by a full 50% margin???
Even just completely ignoring the overhead or upkeep, that's an insane difference in profit in the negative direction, I would have thought this would be a no brainer to get the speed gro. Now that I think about it, I bet you have to have enough blueberry crops for the 5th harvest to cover the cost — but then that increases the spend on speed gro...
I don't know I feel like I'm losing it. I guess speed gro utility was just the friends we made along the way...
Also, I'll have enough sprinklers to cover enough of the daily watering that it's not too much of a chore. The real challenge will be deciding how many melons to get after the first round of bluebs is done...anyway, curious if anyone else ever did this math and realize speed growing blueberries was a total scam unless you have swaths of pine tar and moss to make it yourself (which I think is impossible by Spring 28 year one, unless that's a thing haha).
