Is M720q M.2 slot SATA-compatible ?

Hi,
I recently bought a second hand M720q Tiny, sold with a SSD M.2 SATA plugged in the M.2 slot. First, I tried to run a linux distrib installation but the SSD doesn’t show up. I checked the BIOS, the SSD isn’t detected. I tried to unplug/replug the thing but I have the same result.

The seller told me that it worked for him, so I checked the official documentation, it doesn’t mention M.2 SATA, only M.2 NVMe for the M.2 slot.

So, my question is : Does the motherboard may be built from an old version that supports both NVMe and SATA ?
