Why don't people like Angel as much? He's supposed to be one of the OGs, right?

Angel was one of the founding members of X-MEN, I've come to know as I have started to read the comics. But I never see any discussions of him ever. I see cyclops, rogue, gambit, of corse logan, storm etc but never him. Why? He has an interesting character. So why?
