Does 27" 4k make sense for my scenario?

I currently use 22" 1080p monitor and I am thinking of upgrading it for more screen space mostly for work. I am fully content with 1080p gaming. I sit about 60cm from the screen. My concerns are as follows:

1. Will the text be an issue on browsing and word/excel, etc at 4k on 27"?

2. Will I find 1440p as a better middle ground but then 1080p scaling won't work properly because of lack of clean integer scaling?

3. Will game look fine at 1080p on 4k native resolution?

I don't want to use upscaling as it will defeat the purpose of screen space.
