Local persistent AI agents that actually remember and work together

Tired of AI coding agents that forget everything the moment you close the terminal?

AIPass is a free, open-source CLI tool that turns your project into a persistent agent workspace. Agents keep memory across sessions, develop expertise over time, and coordinate with each other through a local mail system — all on your machine.

What you get

- Persistent memory — Agents store identity, session history, and learnings in simple local files. Kill the terminal, come back tomorrow (or next week), and they pick up exactly where they left off. No more re-explaining the whole project.

- Agent coordination — Agents can message each other, dispatch tasks, and share findings without you playing messenger.

- Your codebase, your rules — Drop it into any existing project (Python, JS, Rust, Go, whatever). It just adds a lightweight scaffold next to your code.

- Runs on your Claude subscription — Uses Claude Code (Pro or Max) as the engine. No extra API keys or cloud costs for the core features. Everything stays local.

How it feels different

Most agent frameworks are one-shot pipelines: define a workflow → run it → get output → start over.

AIPass is more like giving your project a small team of specialists who live there permanently and get smarter the longer they work on it.

You can start with a single agent for a side project, or spin up a few specialized ones (backend, frontend, etc.). The project’s own reference implementation even runs a bunch of agents that maintain AIPass itself.

Quick start

git clone https://github.com/AIOSAI/AIPass.git

cd AIPass && ./aipass install

Currently works on Linux/WSL. Free and MIT licensed.

Anyone else running multi-session or multi-agent coding setups? Curious how this compares to what you’re already using.
