Master and margarita
I'm on page 247 so far, and I'm really enjoying it. It's funny, weird, and entertaining, deep, also. but I can't shake how bad I feel for Margarita's husband. I don't know much about him yet, but the book makes it pretty clear that he genuinely adores her. That's honestly brutal. Maybe it's just me, but I can't get past the cheating. I just end up feeling sorry for the husband. Atp, I almost want Margarita to get some kind of terrible comeuppance. From what I've read so far, the man absolutely adores her, and I'm supposed to ignore that because the affair is "true love" or whatever? I know she doesn't love him and isn't happy in the marriage, and I'm not saying she should be forced to stay with someone she doesn't love. If you're that unhappy, leave. Get a divorce. Separate. Do literally anything other than cheat on someone who, from everything I've seen so far, genuinely adores you. Am I missing something? I know that margarita isn't a flawless moral example, but still, the affair is presented as this grand, beautiful love story, but I just can't get it. It gets better, right?
