My friend is copying a lot of things I do and I’m getting irritated. What can I do?
For the longest time, my friend has copied the things I do but she’s smart with it.
It’s mainly the clothes I wear or my style, but there are also some other aspects.
The first offense was a few years ago when we were at the mall. I had saved up enough money over a long time to buy an expensive pair of shoes that I really wanted. Without any notice of her liking the shoes, she decided to try on the same pair on the spot, and she bought the same thing as I did. To make matters worse, she told me that her parents would buy them for her/reimburse her for the shoes.
Another time at the mall a year ago ,and I pointed out I liked a pair of shorts, and got them to try on. She got the same pair to try on. What made me even more mad was the fact that they looked better on her than me and I didn’t end up getting them while she did. The same thing happened with a pair of sweatpants except I liked them and got them as so did she.
This also happens with how I do my hair. She started styling her hair the same as me and would wear these clips I used to wear. when I stopped wearing them, so did she.
It has gotten so bad that oftentimes when we would do out and do things together, we would meet and coincidentally have the same exact outfit on (this has happened on multiple occasions).
And this is just a few examples. She’s also copied the club I was in during school, the sports team I joined, my college, when I got a new piercing she had to get one too, my purse, etc. and it’s really gotten under my skin
The other weird thing about this is that she never compliments me, anything about my style, or what I wear, she just copies it.
What could I do about this because I’m not trying to ruin our friendship of multiple years, and I’m hoping to do it subtly?
