Passed Series 7 yesterday! Some advice and unique study strategies
So unbelievably happy to be done and over with this test. Just turned 21 and graduated college and the last way I wanted to spend my summer was at libraries doing financial reulatory practice exams but god was it worth it.
Some advice for future test takers: Its just a test, dont put too much presure on yourself. All the questions have an inherently simple and straightforward answer, you just need to be able to sift through the bullshit. Knowing all the investment products and their properties is huge. Also focus your dump sheet on just options: max gain/loss/breakeven. I referenced my dump sheet around 20 times during my exam and I know 100% I got those questions right.
A unique strategy I derived which helped me tons was utilizing Notebook LM's AI podcasts. Take full length exams, of the questions you get wrong take the ones you actually don't understand and put them into chat gpt to make a detialed analysis. Take this document and paste the text into NotebookLM and generate an hour long podcast on it and go on a walk listeing to it. (still counts as studying). This saved me from the mental fatigue of practice questions and helped me get a more fundemantal understanding of concepts.
Lastly don't ever give up hope. I never once got a passing score on a full length practice exam. Watching Ken Finnens brutal exam prep also did not help my confidence because I did horrible on them. (Ken is still the goat though). Also I know you only need a 72% to pass but that doesnt mean understand only 72% of the concepts. To the best of your ability try and undersatand 100% of the general concepts within the book because in a 130 question test you will get questions wrong, its just a matter of limiting how many.
