Does Julian sound too similar to Julia for first cousins?
My husband and I are expecting a boy and Julian has been our favorite name for most of the pregnancy. My sister has a four-year-old daughter named Julia.
We see them maybe once or twice a month, more during holidays. My sister hasn’t said anything negative, but when I mentioned Julian she laughed and said our parents were going to spend the next ten years calling both kids the wrong name.
That got stuck in my head. I still love Julian, and neither of us has found another name we like nearly as much. At the same time, Julia and Julian obviously share almost the entire beginning.
Would this bother you for cousins who actually see each other regularly, or are the names different enough in normal conversation?
