Google can't verify my phone number even though it's my own number

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to recover my Gmail account 

• My password is correct.
• The phone number shown by Google is my real number and it's still active.
• My last successful login was on July 31.
• When I try to continue, Google always shows: "We couldn't verify your phone number."
• I never even receive the SMS verification code.
• "Try another way" just loops back to the same screen.
• Google Support only tells me to use the recovery tool, which is exactly what is failing.

Has anyone experienced this exact error and managed to recover the account? If so, what solved it?
