Should I get a MacBook Air or use my moms Samsung tablet?

Question

Hey guys, I’m an incoming freshman and I really need help.

So for context, my school doesn’t give out laptops unless you fill out a form that’s good for a day and I am NOT going to do that. It’s just something I’m personally not interested in doin unless I really need to. They said to get our own devices that is easy transport and good to use for the school year.

I really want to get my own Macbook (which is definitely selfish of me) because I can use it through high school and college then just have something I can use outside of all the school thing that connects to my phone and ipad.

Now, my mom has a Samsung tablet with a keyboard and S pencil she doesn’t use despite swearing that she would. She told me to use that one and not act like a spoiled little kid if my dad said no to a MacBook Air, which is totally fair. The thing is, I’ve tried to use that tablet so many times and I just genuinely hate using it for like, no reason. It‘s so uncomfortable for me to use and I’m not familiar with Samsung at all.

Im not sure if this is something to take into account bc it shouldn’t be a big deal but for some reason I can’t handle when I have to chan something or if someone changes plans without my knowledge or something along those lines. I get super freaked out and panicky for no reason and makes me feel so stupid. (srry for the slight vent)

My parents have the money (It doesn’t mean I get everything I want from them) for a MacBook Air, or at least my dad since he’s the one who buys my Apple devices because we’re both Apple users. My mom really doesn’t like Apple and I’m not sure if it’s that as well be shes constantly telling me how much better Samsung is even though she uses my iPad to FaceTime my grandma. It just really doesn’t make sense and this isn’t even the first time she’s tried to get me to use Samsung rather than Apple.

Sorry for the long post, I just don’t really know what to do. Thanks for reading and taking time out of your day to answer if you comment!
