Shift to hit space bar?

Just got my unit today. Typing on it as we speak and trying my hardest to like it. Question though: why does the spacebar require a press and hold just to register? It’s not for most sites but enough for me to be annoyed. My biggest problem is on Reedsy where annoyingly i had been planning to use the keyboard the most. Beyond the very valid gripes everyone has Shared this is another annoying little complication. Any suggestions?
