Espio is approached by a Kunoichi named "Izumiko". She has short neon green hair worn in a bobcut. She wears a dark green ninja's tunic wave patterns on it over black spats. Lastly she wears sleek green knee high boots. She fights with a scythe that manipulates water. She hails from the "Shadow Path Zone" a zone home to numerous ninjas and martial artist somewhere on the same continent as Chu'nan. Shadow Path Zone was protected by a wind elemental named "Fujin" that is the air equivalent to Solaris(Sun) and Light Gaia (Earth). Fujin was injured fighting Dark Gaia monsters during Sonic Unleashed and is slowly dying. Izumiko has come looking for Espio for a reason. Canonically in Sonic Heroes we see Espio use ninja hand seals to summon tornadoes. It turns out that he is connected to Air ninjutsu energy on a fundamental level. He can use his energy to heal Fujin. Espio goes to help but finds out that Izumiko's master "Master Kuroi Umi" is planning to kill Espio and sacrifice his soul to heal Fujin for the greater good. Izumiko betrays her master and helps Espio escape
