Any trick to seating the gasket properly on the half silo jug

It seems like it always leaks. I have it facing the right direction but it seems like every 3 or so times I remove and replace the lid it develops a drip leak. Is there any tips to tell that it is seated properly or a good tool or object to use to seat the o ring properly?
