I'm about to install a Garbage disposal in a house that hasn't had one before.

I'm about to install a Garbage disposal in a house that was built in the 1940s. I don't think this drain has ever had a garbage disposal before.

The drain pipe is large enough. I'm just wondering if it's smart to snake out the drain to make sure it's clear inside to prepare for receiving disposal waste.

Does that make sense? Am I being too cautions? Should I not do this at all?
