What have you done to a domain to put a site on it just for traffic?

I'm just here asking what kind of interesting ideas you might have put on a domain website just to stoke traffic because all you want to do is sell the domain name. Surely someone has done something simple like this. No, I'm not talking about ads on the website.

I have a few domain names and perhaps I could just put a website on one of them that has a bunch of links to other useful websites... kind of like a database list or something. I suspect that has already been done before though. Anybody remember or know how something like that turned out?
