Hi everyone! Full disclosure: **I'm the wife of the person who designed this**, so I'm definitely biased—but I wanted to share it here because I think this community might genuinely appreciate what he's trying to make.
My husband, Rich, is an industrial designer, and he's spent **nearly a decade developing the Goplay Roadster**, a solid-wood toy car designed around the idea of making fewer toys, but making them *really, really well*.
It's made from **solid North American maple** and designed to be something a child can actually play with, while also being beautiful enough that you don't necessarily want to hide it in a toy bin when playtime is over.
The idea is that it can be a toy now and an heirloom later.
We've obviously had plenty of plastic toys come through our house, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with those—but there's something special about having a toy that feels substantial and intentional. The kind of thing you could imagine a child playing with for years and eventually putting on a shelf for their own kids.
Rich has put an enormous amount of work into figuring out the design, materials, manufacturing, and production of this car. He actually ran a Kickstarter for it previously, learned a lot from that experience, and relaunched it with a much more achievable production goal.
**The current campaign is now 41% funded**, which is exciting, but we still have a long way to go.
If you enjoy beautifully made toys, wooden toys, heirloom toys, or just appreciate seeing someone try to bring a thoughtfully designed physical product into the world, I'd love for you to take a look:

And if it's not something you're interested in personally, **even sharing it with someone who might love it would mean a lot to us.**
Thanks for letting me share it! ❤️
