I'm confused on how he's on Tau since my understanding of the storyline is

He exists in 1999 eventually a very very long while later after the void experiments and all that he decides the best way to stop the man in the wall and protect himself he's by destroying his body and sending his mind back to 1999 which means that this is a loop it's

1999 →mind transference body destroyed → 1999 so then how does he get to tau did he send a clone did passed him break the loop wouldn't that do the same thing that he advised against in the quest where we find out he's in 1999 we're like breaking the loop destroys the world or whatever according to like him and the void
