For context I started purchasing and building my 1st army in November under 10th. I wanted the stereotypical hug the back and snipe everything that was what I tau did.

Last week I entered a Combat Patrol tournament that is loosely organized by our local Warhammer store, that takes place over 5 weeks. It is geared to new players just starting.

Last night I played my 1st Combat Patrol game and it was my 1st game as Tau. The picture is of the deployment. I was fighting a Space Wolves Askars Wolfpack Combat Patrol.

1. My pathfinder team.

2. Commander

3. The Devilfish with Breachers embarked.

4. Blood Claws with Askar attached.

5. Wolfguard Terminators

6. Wulfen (both in that heavy cover)

Turn 1) Opponent - moved the Wulfen and Terminators up into that heavy cover and objective and the Blood Claws strung out between the 2 light covers. No shooting.

Me - I move my pathfinders up onto that heavy cover and objective, my Devilfish up and left into the corner of that light cover, and commander stayed. At this point I couldn't shoot anything due to the new cover and hidden rules.

Turn 2) Opponent - is able to move and charge essentially across the whole board and engage me (double 6's for the Blood Claws charge). From there I did what I could but at that moment I knew it was over. And by his Combat round Turn 4 I was complely tabled.

My issue and question is the rules changes to 11th.

So now melee focused infantry can just move cover to cover and not be targeted as long as they dont shoot? Until 15" for standard and 12" for the Wolves. This just completed nullify essentially all Tau weapons and the Tau niche.

Also solid cover. Solid cover blocks line of sight so you cannot shoot an enemy through it, however once the enemy engages you in melee they can somehow melee you through it?

And charges and charge rolls. A unit can be in cover, roll the charge, see if it succeeds and then decide to charge? And if it fails they can stay in cover and be safe, while hidden still?

These 3 rules alone hard nerf Tau and makes it seem like GW said "yeah fuck Tau players".

If this is how the game is gonna be I am extremely dissatisfied and really considering quiting.

Anyone have any helpful ideas? Critiques of my play? I will take any help I can get.

Can I get some help with 11th rules?
