Magnetic polish not working at all

Hi everyone, I recently purchased my first bottle of poison and I’m extremely confused and dissapointed. I followed every tutorial online I could find and even tried three different brands of magnets, but the polish isn’t doing anything. It doesn’t shift, I can’t make designs, not even a simple one like a stripe. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Could it be because I use a base coat? I really wanted to try new designs so if anyone has any advice I’d appreciate it :/
