Why Does "The Hill" Care About Bill Maher?

I check the headlines at "The Hill" on a regular basis and I've noticed that within the last few months they've been posting articles quoting Bill Maher on various issues. My question is: Why does The Hill give a flying fuck about anything Bill Maher has to say about literally anything? What is he supposed to be the avatar for?
