Why does average life take so much energy??
This is a vent but also seeking advice and support. I’m diagnosed ADHD, Autism, CPTSD and as cherry on top endometriosis with a sprinkle of chronic migraines.
I’m currently in burnout right now, took leave from my job on March and I just collapsed basically. My whole life and routines went to trash. After a couple months of doing nothing now I’m trying to slowly start things again.
Here are the issues though:
- I found my passion again for food and cooking but if I eat outside too much then I feel horrible physically and if I cook at home all the time then it becomes a giant chore and I don’t want to do it because it takes sooo much energy and capacity.
- I’m trying to start exercise again, I love gym and biking and I want to start swimming again but I can’t bring myself to do it, so much resistance and if I do exercise then the rest of the day I can’t do anything because it takes so much energy and capacity. I have tried preparing everything from evening and gym and pool is 5 mins walk away, can’t be more convenient but the mental barrier is the problem.
- I have 2 cats and taking care of them take so much energy and capacity but I love them. One of them is elderly and needs a lot of care, I love him he seabed my life a couple times but the amount of care he needs is draining me and I feel super guilty about it.
- Basic hygiene and taking care of myself requires a ton of energy and capacity too but I do feel better when I do it but it feels like a giant mountain too.
- Socialising with my few friends make me feel better but I either overdo it and feel horrible after or I don’t socialise at all and feel isolated.
- Don’t even get me started on the cleaning and groceries and laundry and all… ugh
I know that I’m recovering from burnout and I have chronic illnesses and I’m trying my best to tell myself that it’s ok that I have very limited energy and I can’t do it all but I want to start doing things, I feel a little more alive finally and I want to use that for myself.
I am in therapy, I can’t use adhd medications or antidepressants or hormonal meds (apparently my body is waayyy too sensitive right now and side effects have side effects). Migraines are under control 80% of the time so yay.
Anybody have any ideas or tips to get started or not spend all my capacity to survive?
