Do you need extremely high charisma to succeed in online dating?

Online dating sounds like a complete nightmare to me. Usually you meet a person around the places you hang out at and you become friends. Then you can see what that person finds funny or what they find offensive. Then you can tell if this person would be a good match to be partner. With online dating you don't get these prerequisites. You have to guess what they find funny or what not to say to not offend them. Sure you can text them and find out more about them, but our text are way different than what we are in real life. Most of the time you only get one try to hit a homerun on the first date. A lot of people don't like to give second chances. Your not gonna be super funny everyday. Sometimes you throw stinkers. You also have the anxiety of meeting someone new dragging you down.
