Why do APs raise their kids in predominately white areas and expect them to not develop self esteem issues?

Thw area I grew up in was only 5% Asian and about 80% white.We moved there because the area was super safe and the schools are some of the best schools in the state. I spent many years hating my skin color and wanting to be white because of it. I rejected my heritage, my language, etc because of it
