Qatar MOL employer change - approved notice period waiver but SMS says my notice period is until October 1
Hi everyone, I need some advice from anyone who has experienced the Qatar MOL employer change process, especially regarding the notice period waiver.
Here is my situation:
My current employer initially submitted my employer change request on June 17. At that time, we agreed that I would work until July 31, but they did not select the option to waive the notice period.
Because of that, I received a message from MOL saying that my notice period would be until August 20.
We then cancelled the first request because both my current and new employers agreed that I would finish on July 31. I was told to apply again so that the notice period could be waived.
When we submitted the new request, my current employer couldn't accept or reject it, and they also couldn't enter the notice period. They contacted MOL by phone, and MOL explained to them what they needed to do.
On July 30, the new employer-change request was submitted again. On the same day, my current employer also submitted an Advance Waiver of the Notice Period.
However, the system required them to put 30 days as the notice period. When they entered 30 days, the system showed August 29 as the resulting date.
The Advance Waiver of the Notice Period is now showing as APPROVED in my MOL account.
But then, on August 2, I received an SMS from MOL saying that my legal notice period is until 01/10/2026 (October 1, 2026).
So now I'm really confused because I have three different dates:
July 31 - the last working day agreed by me and both employers
August 29 - the date generated when my employer entered the required 30 days for the waiver request
October 1 - the legal notice period stated in the SMS from MOL
If the Advance Waiver of the Notice Period is already approved, I'm not sure which date is actually applicable or whether the approved waiver has already been applied to my employer-change request.
I will contact MOL to clarify this, but I would also really appreciate insights from anyone who has experienced something similar.
My questions are:
-
If the advance notice-period waiver is approved, does MOL update/remove the legal notice period from the employer-change request?
-
Why would the system show August 29 when 30 days was entered, but the MOL SMS says October 1?
-
Can the approved waiver allow my last working day to remain July 31, as agreed with both employers?
-
Do I need an NOC from my current employer, or is the approved notice-period waiver sufficient?
-
Has anyone experienced an approved waiver but still received an SMS showing the original/legal notice period?
I would really appreciate any advice or personal experience. I'm just trying to understand whether this is a normal MOL process or if something needs to be corrected in the system.
Thank you so much! 🙏
